The
most fruitful or rewarding epoch of a person’s life
is youth. The role of youth cannot be considered less in the
formation of a personality, society, and development of the
nation and church. Youth is not a problem to be solved but
a power to be considered. Youth is the power and future of
the church. The youth of every country is its valuable human
resource. Youth has an inevitable role in the coming years
to transform the hopes and aspirations of the nation and church
into fruition/reality. The church as well as the nation became
conscious of the need to tap the youth-power. This no way
means that the youth should become a pawn in the hands of
the authorities. Youth is the most vital human resource of
the nation and church on whom the present and future depend.
It is high time for us to lay adequate emphasis on the importance
of youth in national development, the needs of youth, training
of youth leadership, and to harness their vast potential for
creative causes. It wouldn’t be superfluous to compare
the dynamic youth?power to a properly channelized atomic energy
which is so constructive and destructive at the same time.
Youth are the communicators of hope in a world which is often
tempted to despair, communicators of faith in a society which
at times seems resigned to disbelief, communicators of love
in daily events that are often marked by a mentality of the
most unbridled selfishness.
Delhi
Syro-Malabar Mission is blessed with diversity of people who
mainly belong to two categories, namely; born and brought
up in Delhi and the other; migrants from Kerala to Delhi and
surrounding areas (NCR) as job seekers. These youth who are
really wise and prophesiers on whose shoulders lie the responsibility
of heading ahead to renovate the world and consecrate the
church. (St. John 2:14). DSYM (Delhi Syro-Malabar Youth Movement)
facilitates and provides ample opportunities for youth in
their most evolutionary phase of their life to know and love
Christ and church. DSYM is an unlimited platform for the youth
to have an agile and active participation in the parish activity,
a place to fight against evils by being deep rooted in sanctity
and morality, a place from where the moral voice which is
the essence of hereditary faith and prayer is heard, a place
where the agility and creativity of youth is upheld, a podium
to youth, with youth, by youth, for the youth based on truth,
peace, love, and justice derived from Christ to mold the youth
as an impeccable human being for the people of God.
I earnestly desire that all the priests and nuns to emerge
to gather the youth who have the disposition for becoming,
belonging, and building for the well being of the Delhi Mission.
I hope and pray that young people of not only our mission
but also all over the world may be soon summoned by Jesus
Christ, the centre of our lives, the basis of our faith, the
reason for our hope and the source of our charity for the
new evangelization by life witness. We are greatly blessed
for continuing the mission entrusted to the Apostles and in
which every Christian, through his Baptism and membership
in the community of the Church, is called to participate.
The meeting with Jesus is the event which gives meaning to
our lives and profoundly alters it, by opening the spirit
to horizons of authentic freedom of the Father. So, you my
dearest Youth, let us not be late to hold the hands together
to uphold the fluttering flag of Christ’s love and let
us experience the same in its fullest sense
